12×12 | First Veggies

Jinny Newlin_header

Morning, y’all!  It’s Jinny here, and I’m so excited to be sharing my very first post for Pretty Little Studio today.  Eeek!  Pics of my littlest’s first taste of veggies and that darling Baby Nathan Vintage Die Cut inspired it all.  Enjoy!

PLS First Veggies - JinnyNewlin_opt

I started this page by adding pools of watercolor to a 12×12 piece of watercolor paper and stamping the background with a number of random, little stars.  After adding a stack of prints behind where my photo would lie and before anchoring them with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches, I splattered everything with those same shades of watercolor, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry and my photos were matted with white cardstock and adhered in place, I scattered a number of star die cuts, some of which were adhered with foam tape, about.  I wanted a couple to pull in more of the color red, so I used my own star die to cut a couple more from an Island Treasure print.  I then tucked a couple of tags, both of which were laced with white string, along with a tab, which I stamped with the date, under the top edge of the design.

One of those star die cuts mentioned above was backed with a tangle of silver thread before being adhered in place.  It was then topped with a “little moments” flair button, and a “little baby” word sticker was tucked under its highest point.

Everything was then grounded with my “first VEGGIES” title, which was created with a Cameo-cut, cardstock “first” and Noir ABC Stickers.  Below the title, I stamped the “peas, love, happiness” phrase and hand-etched my journaling.

A “memories” Clear Word Cut-Out, tucked under one of those fabulous, star die cuts; “life is an adventure” ticket; and a “cute as a button” word sticker…

turn our attention to the previously-mentioned Baby Nathan Vintage Die Cut, which was backed with another tangle of silver thread.  I cannot tell you how much I adore these cutie patooties!  I’ll be turning to them over and over again to help tell my family’s stories and create paper treasures of all kinds.  Another word sticker was tucked under Baby Nathan, and a scattering of Ocean Blue Confetti completes the look.

Thanks so much for humbling us with a visit!  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
