Technique Challenge: Color Pop
Source: Brooke Holm
Red is one of my favorite colors to decorate with at Christmas time so when I saw all the bright pops of red standing out against the white background in this week’s inspiration photo, I knew immediately that I wanted to reproduce that look on a layout. I started by making a simple grid pattern using my photo, two pieces of Twas the Night paper, and a Twas the Night Bookmark tag. My two tags were created by cutting up a Woodland Animals journaling card; the date spot from that same journaling card was then cut out and placed on my bookmark tag. I created layering on my layout by first attaching my grid pattern onto a smaller white square background and then gluing that onto my 12×12 paper. Additional layering was created by sewing several fussy cut circles from the aptly named Red Circles Vellum paper across one of my squares and including flair, a little red bird die cut, and a sprinkling of sequins around the rest of my layout. As with the inspiration photo, I love how the pops of red look against the white background of my layout!
I was inspired by this lovely photo to create some custom gift bags for the Holiday Season. When I looked at this photo the first thing I noticed was the white with a bit of red and brown. I wanted to keep my gift bags with the same feel.
I used a large doily for the center ad then a circle of kraft cardstock and a Santa die cut in the middle. I added a little tag to the top and now all it needs is the gift!
I love using Pretty Little Studio products for gift wrap!
