Journal Cover | Phil 4:8

Morning, ya’ll!  It’s Jinny here today with something a little different.  I recently ran out of room in my daily journal.  I had already picked up another composition notebook off the clearance rack, at Walmart, for my big kiddo; however, it was red with giant Kansas City Chiefs emblems on the front and back covers, and he decided that he’d rather have a spiral notebook for his needs.  So, I turned the original one into something pretty for mine.  And if I haven’t yet proven that bits and pieces from all of Pretty Little Studio’s collections mix and match effortlessly, I’m about to do so today.  I’ve used something from TEN different collections, past and present, to complete this project.  Enjoy!

I started this journal by anchoring pieces of our scrumptious Autumn Leaves and utilitarian, Back to School prints, over the front of the notebook, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I left the spine black to give myself room to fit it through the sewing machine.  You can see that I did the same thing, with my last journal, at the link above; and it held up so beautifully, that I knew it had to be done again.  I then began placing the alphas for the scripture that takes up the entire front cover.  “WHATEVER IS” was created with Hugs & Kisses Mini ABC Stickers.  “TRUE” was spelled out using Polka ABC Die Cuts; and the Green Mini ABC Stickers, used for the word “NOBLE”, came from an older collection, Woodland.  I also adhered a “remember” Make It Happen Wood Veneer word bubble just above the latter.

I used Park Bench Alphas to spell out the word “RIGHT” and Cozy White Mini ABC Stickers for the word “pure”.  The “lovely” Walk in the Park Die Cut was perfect just as it was.

The word “admirable” was stamped, in Summer Sun ink, on an Off the Grid Cut-Apart Label, using one of my favorite, alphabet, stamp sets from Paper Smooches.  “EXCELLENT” was spelled out with my stash of Gold Metallic A to Z Die Cuts.  Gosh, I wish these were still available in the store.  They’re fantastic!  I also filled in the space where my bottom row of letters was one less than the top with a darling Forest Walk Flair Button.  Believe it or not, I have a collection of stuffed raccoons big enough to make me blush just admitting so here.  They’re so, stinkin’ cute!

I stamped the word “praiseworthy”, in Jet Black ink, using another favorite, alphabet, stamp set.  This one comes from Concord & 9th and was gifted to me by my faithful, blog friend, Julie Tucker-Wolek.  Thanks, love!  Swoon!  The scripture reference “phil 4:8” was created from Doodle Diary Clear Alpha Stickers; and a “GIVE YOUR BEST SHOT” Stories & Tales Word Sticker rounds out the front cover.

I also decided to add a little tab, to my pages, for each month.  For future tabs, I’ll just be sure to stick with the color-scheme that I’ve already begun.

I’ve used a Flutter Frames Tab, etched with the Feb. 2018 date, for the first month and a Laura Tab, etched with the MAR 2018 date, for the second.

The back of my composition notebook was just as ugly as the front, so I anchored more Potpourri Collection prints over it with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.   I adore that Autumn Leaves print, that I used on the front cover, ever so much; but because our largest papers are 8″ x 8″, and I had already used a 6-3/4″ x 6-1/4″ (to allow for a little, horizontal overlap of the Back to School print to create a clean connection) piece, my 1-3/4″ leftover strip was pretty narrow.  So, I trimmed the top edge off the 8×8 Paper Pack packaging to create a much wider 6-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ band to connect the Favorite Season and So Much Beauty prints, on the back.  Yay!

That does it for today, friends.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful Wednesday!  Hugs!
