November Guest Designer Day 1 || Sarah McClellan
Good morning everyone! We are thrilled to welcome our November guest, Sarah McClellan, to the blog today!
Sarah caught our eye via her Instagram account, where she shares gorgeous projects – especially mini albums! We know that you’ll be inspired by her amazing work this week!
In an effort to get to know Sarah better, we asked her to answer some fun questions for us:
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a full time working momma to two girls. We live in Minnesota and love our beautiful change of seasons here! My husband likes to fish and is currently remodeling most of our home. When I’m not scrapbooking, you can find me going on adventures with my family or out shopping.
When did you start scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking after my husband and I got married in 2007. I created a 12×12 album of our wedding and honeymoon, and I was hooked! I did traditional 12×12 albums until I discovered Project Life in 2014.
What is your style?
I love pocket pages, mini albums, sequins and machine stitching. I could best describe my style and sparkly, colorful and unique.
When do you find time to scrapbook?
I recently took a promotion at work and I am finding it difficult to find time to scrapbook right now. I usually have every Wednesday off and both of my girls are in school, so I have been taking advantage of this time to get crafty!
What is your favorite PLS product?
This is a complete tie between the gorgeous clear acetate patterned papers and the beautiful sequins in the shop!
Where do you get your inspiration?
I love browsing Instagram and Pinterest to get inspired before I scrap! I love to watch YouTube videos too!
What is your favorite color to scrap?
My favorite color to scrap is definitely pink. I have two girls and it seems like pink works for every occasion for us!
Five fun facts about me:
I have worked for the same company since college (and that’s 20 years!) and love it!
We are currently undergoing MASSIVE renovation in our 1945 colonial home and I can’t wait for my new kitchen!
I majored in anthropology in college and minored in German and film studies.
I am half German and Saudi Arabian.
I can name all of the 50 United States in alphabetical order thanks to my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. LaVoy!
We also asked Sarah to create an “About Me” project for her first post and she created the beautiful mini album that you’ve seen throughout this post! Here’s what she has to say about it: “I used a navy Instax album and 10 Instax prints to create this mini. I am absolutely crazy about the Tales and Dreams collection
by Zinia Amoiridou and I knew I was going to use it for this mini! I pared the collection with several different sequins from the shop to create shaker pockets and sewed each pocket shut with my sewing machine. I created clear pages for the album using some of the acetate patterned papers from the collection. I also cut Silhouette cut files that I colored with Gellatos. I added them to my mini using colored paper clips. Finally, I used my typewriter to make strip journaling.”
Isn’t her first mini album amazing? Make sure to swing back by the rest of the week to see more of Sarah’s amazing work. In the meantime, you can follow her on social media:
