Evening, y’all! It’s Jinny here today, popping in to share a new layout. We’re getting ready to head back to school soon; but before we do, I wanted to get these photos of all three of my kiddos, just after school got out last year, onto a page. I’m feeling a little nostalgic about these precious moments, as they seem to be slipping through my fingers much faster than I’d ever dream. Getting everyone to peacefully coexist hasn’t been so easy this summer. Unfortunately, I’m heading into a new school year feeling drained rather than refreshed; but Heather’s new Beautiful Day Collection made the creation of this page a breeze. I just love the way completing something creative can make a body feel so rejuvenated.
I started this page by adding aqua, red, and green, watercolor puddles and splatters to the 12″ x 12″ watercolor paper, base page. I then used Creative Scrappers’ Burst of Sunshine cut file to sketch the sunshine over them and Post-It Notes to mask it off for rubbing Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink in just the right places to bring that sunshine to life. Everything was then splattered once again, but this time with watered-down Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints. That set the stage for my photos, which were matted with white cardstock; backed with a bit of cheesecloth for texture; and adhered over a happy mix of hand-cut, from papers in the Beautiful Day 6×8 Paper Pack, and stamped, in Jet Black ink, triangles, not to mention a trio of extra Beautiful Day prints, anchored with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching. A Happy Ticket, laced with white string, tied in a bow, as well as a Perfect Day Cut-Apart and partial Colorful Bloom, was tucked under the right side of my photos. Another Colorful Bloom, popped up with foam tape; My Life Flair Button; and second Happy Ticket, etched with, School’s out 4 summer! Woot!, rounds out the cluster.
A Laura Tab, marked with the May 2016 date and secured with a simple staple, tops the design.
The “hello sweet SUMMER” title was created from a Beautiful Day Acrylic Word, foam phrase Thicker, and Polka ABC Die Cuts and grounded with my journaling, which reads, I just love to see you getting along, playing together, and enjoying one another’s company. What a precious memory for this Mommy.
