Good morning, everyone! We are beyond thrilled to welcome Elsie Robinson, our July guest designer, to the blog for the next 4 days! Her style is crazy fun and we guarantee that you’ll be inspired!
Since it’s her first day with us, we asked Elsie to answer some get-to-know-you questions:
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hey everyone, I’m Elsie and I’m really happy to be July’s Guest Designer for Pretty Little Studio! I’m in my early 20s and live in Brighton, UK.
When did you start scrapbooking?
About a year and a half ago. I got into Project Life first, but then I discovered 12×12 layouts and haven’t stopped making them since!
What is your style?
Whimsical scenes with lots of sparkle and hand stitching!
I’m a bit of a night owl, so my evenings are usually spent scrapping and/or stitching elements for my pages.
What is your favorite PLS product?
Ooooh that’s a tough one… I love all of the papers from Here Comes the Sun. But I also really love the violet stickers from the With All My Heart collection.
Where to you get your inspiration?
All the usual suspects, so YouTube, Pinterest and blogs. But I also like to create layouts based around books, films and TV shows that I might’ve been inspired by.
What is your favorite color to scrapbook?
I’m always drawn to more pastel colours, but especially pink, mint and yellow. But I’ve recently been crushing on navy and teal tones!
I have a total obsession with fairy lights, I own far too many of them!
Growing up, I went to a dance school for 14 years. I’ve danced as a snowflake, a chimney sweeper, a gardener, a poppy, the muffin man, and my personal favourite: the “wind”!
I can’t go a day without coffee, I’m totally addicted.
I can play the flute and oboe.
I once got locked in a stationary store because I was having too much fun looking at all of the pretty things, and I didn’t realise the store had closed – oops!
We also asked Elsie to create an “About Me” layout for her first post. Here’s what she has to say about her project: “For this page I was inspired by the phrase ‘do not worry, be happy’. I decided to play on the words a little and instead use ‘donut worry, bee happy’, just to make the layout a bit more fun and punny! I created a donut cut file and drew the bee and paper-pieced and stitched some more details into both images. The base of my donut was originally a white piece of cardstock, but I used a light brown pencil to colour it in, to make it look more realistic. I love the florals from the Dream Big collection, as they look super adorable scattered around the page.
Even though the photo I scrapped was taken at a particularly difficult time in my life, I wanted to keep this page bright and fun because I wanted to remind myself that even though life can get a little tough, remember that there are always coffee and donuts! I also have a massive sweet tooth, so I really loved the ‘You’re one tough cookie’ sticker from Here Comes the Sun, and thought it was the perfect sentiment to add to this page.”
