Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week! My daughter and I are out of school for summer break and we are enjoying the time off! My daughter just finished eighth grade and will be a freshman in high school next year! I can’t believe how fast time flies! I recently took a photo of her as we were heading to the awards ceremony and was so surprised at how grown up she looked so I had to document this special time.

I used Photoshop to make the photo black and white. I love using black and white photos on my layouts because it allows me to use products of any color without worrying if it will match. I created a 12x 12 layout using products I had left from the Ain’t Life Grand collection by Ashley Horton. I have to say it is my favorite kit! I absolutely love all the bright color papers and embellishments! I have used it to create several of my layouts!

I started out with a 12×12 piece of white card stock. I painted the background using acrylic paint and then used a stencil with a geometric design and a paper towel to remove some of the paint leaving a bit of the stencil design on the page. I applied some texture paste using a stencil and when it dried, I applied some Shimmerz paint to the texture paste. I used 8×8 papers from the Ain’t Life Grand collection to mat the 4×6 black and white photo and added embellishments. The journaling was typed on the computer so I could choose a font similar to handwritten journaling and printed it on card stock. I cut the journaling apart and attached it with adhesive.
