12×12 | Beach Life

Happy Monday PLS fans!  School days are coming to an end and the summer temps are creeping in, so it’s a great time to grab Ain’t Life Grand for some summer themed projects!  The bright colors in the collection are perfect for summer photos and the everyday embellishments are great with any project.  I used a beach photo from our recent vacation with a large die cut flamingo cut from the Over the Rainbow patterned paper, which is one of my favorites from the collection.

I wanted a patterned paper background for this layout, so I found a pattern from the Crate Paper Oasis collection that coordinated with Ain’t Life Grand.  The flamingo is cut from the Over the Rainbow patterned paper from ALG at 8 inches high.  I thought it would make a fun focal point for the layout.  I used pop dots to adhere the flamingo so it would have some dimension on the layout.  Once it was in place, I tucked my photo to the left of it, to draw attention to the flamingo and photo at the same time.

The idea for the rest of my design came from the placement of the flamingo and photo.  I decided to go with a diagonal design, by adding the cloud and flower die cuts.  I felt like I didn’t need to add too much more, because the flamingo and photo were large elements on the layout.  For some added texture, I used one of the Here & There Cork and Whole Hearted Cork.  I finished the layout by stamping a large date, using my Studio Calico Mega Date Stamp.

I hope you’ll brighten up your summer themed projects, with some of the fun papers and embellishments from the Ain’t Life Grand collection!  Make sure you visit the PLS shop to check out the full collection.
