My name is Malika Kelly. I have been scrapbooking for about the last 12 years, though I’ve always had my hands in some type of craftiness, even as a child. Currently, I am on the Bella Blvd 2012-2013 design team and I also design for our local scrapbook store, The Scrapbooking Studio as well as an inspirational site called Practical Scrappers. I’m from Toronto, Canada, but I have lived in central Illinois since 2000. I am married and have three kids; Noah, Ashton and Piper (9, 7 and 3). Years ago I made a decision to give up being an elementary teacher so I could stay home with my kids. When I have a free moment or two, you can find me in my scrapbook room working away.
I would describe my projects as trendy and a little whimsical. I love layers; creating a base with some ink splatters and stamping and then building on top with patterned papers, tags and labels and some sort of cut from my Cameo. Finally I add bits of embellishments, like flair, enamel dots and wood veneers to complete my project. I almost always anchor elements down with machine or hand stitching. Sewing on paper is fabulous to me!
