Challenge ends: March 31, 2014
We are starting something new this year. Instead of having a sketch challenge once a week. We will be having a sketch challenge once a month with a bigger prize.
You will have 2 sketches for each challenge. Just leave your link below and one person will be randomly selected to win a $25 Grab Bag.
I kept pretty close to the sketch for my first time out. I was inspired by the butterfly paper I used for the strip across the card and so I added the pretty yellow butterfly as the focal point on top of the circle. I put my white cardstock through the embosser to get the little dots to add some fun texture to the plain white.
Circles! What a fun change on a layout for me! I don’t usually cut my pictures in to shapes, other than rectangles or squares so this was a challenge that got me thinking outside of my comfort zone. I stuck closely to the sketch, but once I got going I really loved the look of the circles and I added a whole bunch more! I love how they are placed on the sketch and decided to stretch them out diagonally across the page. The Monsieur line was perfect for a page about my two boys.
A clean and simple take in this months layout sketch… The circles were awesome. And I love circles on a layout, but I decided the only hint of circle would be the actual shell I used on the page.
LOTS of stitching. Stitching gives an otherwise simple page lots of interest and texture.
Instead of using circles, I opted to focus on square elements to frame my embellishments and photo. I love the patterned paper and chose to use it to create a ‘gradient’ effect on the white background. To make it blend more into the background, I misted with similar colors of yellow and orange. This layout talks about my niece, Beth. She has quite a quirky character, as seen from the photograph.
