One of my favorite ways to use patterned paper on my layouts is to free hand letters out of different papers and make a large focal title with them. Using busy, bright patterns in a smaller scale like this helps tone down the business on your page too! I used the 4×6 paper pack from my Summer Vibes collection for this layout.
In real life, you can see the ‘B’ in the word ‘better’ more clearly. In these photos it kind of blends in with the paint splatters.
To add some texture to my page, I sewed straight lines through all of the letters (including the vellum ‘beach’ word) and added some watercolor paint splatters. I kept all of the embellishing around my photo to 1) make a focal point of the photo and 2) keep the business away from the title since the patterns were pretty colorful on their own. I layered the layout on a white background to add some more subtle interest. The white cardstock the title and photo are adhered to is smooth and the back layer of white cardstock is textured. It’s all in the details.
