Travelers Notebook | Summer Vibes

Hey there, I’m Aimee! I have been on the Pretty Little Studio Design Team on and off since 2013, and I am so excited to be back! I will just have one project a month, and hopefully I can really inspire you with that one project!

This month I have chosen to share a few pages in my traveler’s notebook, using my most favorite PLS line to date Summer Vibes by designer Heather Adams. I absolutely love this collection, the bright colors the cactus and pineapples all my summer loves well all except a palm tree {hey heather why wasn’t there a palm tree in this collection?}.

Anyways, more about my little journal. If you know me I’m not a huge journaler. I really struggle with the words to paper process. These little books are really helping with that.

A few weeks ago, we were in Phoenix AZ for a race and had a day off. Kevin and I took a little road trip to Wickenburg. We found this cute little sandwich shop called the “local press”. The building was originally the local newspaper {at least I am assuming!} I just loved the name so we stopped for lunch. Kevin ordered “the local” which was a chicken panni. It was so delicious.

Have you just noticed what I’ve done here? I totally journaled more here on this blog than I did in my notebook.

Awe the simplicity of a keyboard and spelling check!

For my first page, I journaled with my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter. I typed after I had glued and sewed everything {this was my first time typing in a notebook} and now I know I should have typed after I got my photo down, and waited for the detail embellishments till last!

I used a piece of paper from the “Summer Vibes 6×6 paper pack” to back my photo, along with a journaling card from “let’s go outside”. I layered some “cactus die cuts” over my photo, adding foam adhesive and machine stitching for a more visual effect. Between my photo and journaling card, I added a Clear Star Sticker from “Summer Stars” sticker sheet. The top right corner I layered a “Summer Days Cut Apart Word Flag” with a tiny paper clip. The Clear “Road Trip” Sticker from the “Sunshine Word” sticker sheet worked perfectly over my puffy sticker title. And for the love of arrows I added an arrow under my title from the “Sunsation Arrows” Sticker Sheet.

Now my typing is a bit messy, and I’m not really sure why. I cleaned the keys before I started typing with rubbing alcohol, but somehow the keys were hitting the black. But Ill figure that out another day. I loved the page so much I didn’t want to tear it apart, so I will just except the imperfections!

For my next page, I also used a piece of paper from the same 6×6 paper pack. But that polka dot paper, ya that’s the packaging from the journaling cards! I layered some more cactus over my photo. I layered a star die cut from “Summer Night’ and the little word phrase stapled to the photo is from “Aloha Words”.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you love my pages as much as I do, and of course if you have any questions, leave it in the comments below!

Xoxo Aimee

  • Lisa - Love this Aimee! Those die cuts are so bright and fun! I would never have tried to stitch in a Travelers Notebook! Thanks for the indoor! Also, I think the black smudging and uneven pressure of your typed journaling adds awesome character and contrast to the boldness of the rest. ReplyCancel

    • Aimee - Lisa, thank you so much! Yes I agree with the black smudging and I think thats why I am ok with it! And never be afraid to stitch on anything! xo AimeeReplyCancel
