Pinterest Inspired | Helzberg Penguin Plaza

Morning, friends!  It’s Jinny here today.  I trust you all had wonderfully blessed weekends!  Somewhere amidst the chaos of my busy weekend, I found a little time to papercraft.  Each project will make its way to my blog in due time; but for now, I’d love to share a two-page design, inspired by the Pinterest photo below.  Enjoy!

I started this layout by painting several shades of blue and green watercolor across two 12″ x 12″ watercolor pages.  A few speckles of those same watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, prepped the pages for pics, which were matted with white cardstock.  Just under the photos, I anchored scraps of a wide variety of blue prints with teal-threaded, straight, machine stitches, even sneaking in a few bits of our Snowflakes Vellum here and there, before turning my attention to the left side of the design.

The “HELZBERG PENGUIN plaza” title was created from Navy Thin Clear ABC Stickers; a Cameo-cut, from Coastal Cabana cardstock, “PENGUIN”; and a Cameo-cut, from Basic Black cardstock, “plaza”.  It was topped with an “explore” Aloha Die Cut, which was popped up with foam tape and surrounded by lots of white, cardstock, snowflake die cuts, not to mention a happy mix of Ocean Blue, Seaspray, and Snow Fall Sequins.

Both a Picnic Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, and a Salt Lake Clear Shipping Tag, laced with more white string, were tucked under all the title-work, as well as the left sides of the patterned prints.

A Treasure Map Tab, etched with the Wed. Nov. 20th date…

With Glee Die Cut, popped up with foam tape…

and a couple more Aloha Die Cut phrases, once again, popped up with foam tape…

turn our attention to the right side of the design.

All the white, cardstock, journaling strips from the previous page pour over onto this page as well.  Together, they read, It was our 1st trip to see the penguins @ the KC Zoo, & Adina & I were captivated the whole time Ezekiel was in class.  It was so fun to see the penguins darting out of the water to hitch a ride on the zookeepers’ raft, as they were cleaning windows.  KCTV5 News was there interviewing the Director.  We were the only patrons there, so we stayed super quiet so they wouldn’t ask us to leave.  What a great morning!  Welcome to KC, penguins!

This darling, little, Winter Friends Flair button, backed with a tangle of teal thread, found a fitting home.

A number of additional, white, cardstock, snowflake die cuts, as well as another With Glee Die Cut snowflake, popped up with foam tape, and Picnic Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, not to mention all those perfectly-matching sequins, carry over to this page as well and complete the look.

And here’s our Pinterest photo that inspired it all.  I don’t think any explanations are even needed ;).

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!  Have a terrific Tuesday!  Hugs!
