I LOVED this challenge! Combining reds and pinks on projects has long been a favorite for me, so I was super excited when I saw this week’s color challenge. One great way to make use of leftover Christmas papers, such as Pretty Little Studio’s Woodland Christmas Collection which are full of pretty red patterns, is to think outside the box and find ways to use them for non-Christmas layouts as I have done here. These Woodland Christmas papers, journaling tags, sparkling star stickers, and tinsel arrow stickers look like they were made to be combined with the papers, pennant flags, and party streamer paper ribbons from the Neapolitan and Birthday Cake Collections.
This Out Of The Box project was really fun to make! I was drawn to the all the red and pinks in my inspiration photo!
I created this card / gift card holder from a pink polkadot paper bag! I folded up the bottom and sewed it down on 3 sides to make a pocket.
I then added a sever red and pink papers to the bag for decoration. I also put a paper embellished with a doily and bingo card on the inside to write the special recipient a note.
When I saw this inspiration photo, I was a bit worried. I would normally not put pink and red together, and I don’t honestly use pink very much at all. But, I decided to give it a go and I am so happy with the way it turned out. I found these pictures of me and my little guy in a photo booth somewhere years ago. We looked so happy that day, and I thought the colors might actually work for such a happy layout.
I used paper and a tag from the Birthday Cake collection. I fussy cut the hearts, scattered them around the page, and did a bit of sewing on a few of them. The paper from this collection is so versatile. It is certainly not just for birthdays! The bright, happy colors can work for an everyday, happy group of photos, too.
