It’s Malika on the blog today! I have a layout to share that I made using today’s sketch. Sometimes I stay very close to the sketch and other times I use it for just a starting point or I take an element or two from the sketch and see where it takes me. The vertical strips in today’s sketch caught my eye. I decided to make a cut file of random numbers and then cut strips of papers from the Birthday Cake collection to lay behind my cut file. In my cut file I made the number 8 the largest in size to highlight the event of my picture, my son’s 8th birthday. I like how the different patterned papers show through the windows. From this point, it was easy to add some cute Birthday Cake embellishments! Thanks for stopping by today!
I love a good sketch and we have just that here at Pretty Little Studio! The current sketch lets you decide how you want to create the background of strips and I decided to do that with paint!
I had this cute photo of my son and I wanted to keep my layout simple and I was able to do that with just a few pieces from the Woodland Christmas collection!

For this sketch, I broke out the Birthday Cake collection. I hesitate to say it is my favorite collection, only because I think people will start rolling their eyes at me if I claim yet another favorite PLS collection. I do love the bright, happy colors in this collection, though. I stayed fairly close to the sketch this time. I did move the circles around and off center my titles a bit. This sketch lends itself well to a million possibilities for photo placement. I decided to use some of the large tags as a background for my photos and a journaling spot. I used a piece of the 6 X 6 Birthday Cake paper as a solid background and also cut some of the paper into strips to go behind it. This layout came together so easily that I was amazed!
