12×12 | Maya at 5

Hello everyone!

I’m so happy to be back on the team!! I was creating projects made with the collection I designed “here comes the sun” and I was just dying to show them to you! 🙂

So here’s one I made using the 4×4 papers pieced as a mosaic in the background.

I started by placing them all in a grid and I then sewed them to a white piece of cardstock. If you want to do this, I’d suggest you adhere the papers slightly before stitching so that them don’t move around while you’re sewing Be careful not to put glue too close to the sides, otherwise your needle will quickly become sticky. I then used my fingers to distress the sides of each little piece of paper. Tearing, lifting and curving the sides carefully, not to cut my fingers.

I printed 4 photos in a size slightly smaller than the pieces of paper and I placed them on some squares. At the same time, I added other small pieces from the collection and from my stash. Die cuts, flair buttons, sequins, paper clip and wood veneer. I used some foam adhesive for a couple of pieces here and there.

I stamped the date and added some more details on label die cuts.

I added some touches of gold with this flair button, the die cuts icons and letters/numbers and some sequins.
