Technique Challenge: Feathering
Source: Joss & Main
I was so excited when I saw the feathers on this week’s inspiration photo! I don’t recall ever using feathers on a layout so this was just the push I needed to try something knew – and, of course, the lovely feather diecuts in the Nature Walk Collection made this a very “painless” creative learning process. Because they are paper die-cuts, the feathers are easy to layer, which is one of my favorite things to do! I also got to play with the wonderful papers in the Nature Walk and Sand Castle Collections that, for the first time, come in a 12×12 format. The paper quality is excellent – very sturdy and not flimsy at all, but not so thick that I had to adjust my Silhouette settings to make cuts. And every single piece of paper seems to coordinate with all the others – again, perfect for someone like me who loves to use lots of layers! I fussy cut pieces from several of the journaling cards to create smaller pieces to cluster around my photo, and I also fussy cut the triangles from my paper and spaced them slightly apart to mimic mosaic tiles.
