Inspiration:

Create a layout in a grid pattern

Jennifer Chapin

I was inspired by the square grid in the inspiration photo to make this card. Just punch squares out of patterned paper and adhere them to your card base in a grid shape. Stitch over the seams with a zig-zag stitch and you’ve got a great background for your next card!

My take on the ad this week. Using Zap Dots by Helmar USA gives just a bit of a subtle dimension.

This week we challenged Leanne and Robyn to create Layouts with this sketch.

Robyn Schaub

There are so many great shaped papers in the Pretty Little Studio collections, and this sketch was a perfect opportunity to use one. I chose the Red Apothecary 8×8 Cutout from the Clowning Around collection, and I mixed in a few of the other papers from this collection. The bright colors were a great match for my photos. To balance the right side of the layout, I used some star cutouts as masks for a few light sprays of mist.

“I love this sketch but I wanted to extend the story telling side of my journaling, so I added one extra photo to the layout. The pennant flags were resized and they now add dimension to the strip of patterned paper below the photos.”
