Today I’m going to show you how to make an easy pleated flower. All you need is some patterned paper, a circle punch, a sewing machine, and some glue to get started!
Cut 2 1-1/4 strips of paper
Glue the ends of the two strips together.
Pleat paper. This doesn’t have to be perfect. Note, this is not accordion folding. You want the paper to actually lay flat. I just folded a regular pleat and then overlapped some paper and then folded again.
Sew along the edge of the pleated strip. Use the widest stitch length.
Punch circle out of patterned paper. (I used a 1-3/8 circle punch. Any size will do.) 6. Put glue on circle.
Form pleated strip into a flower and place on circle.
Glue ends of flower together.
Pop dot diecut image onto the completed flower.
You’re done! I used my flower on an Easter card. As you can see, my flower isn’t exactly round, but I think that fits better with the shape of the bunny diecut and it also reminds me of an Easter egg– perfect for an Easter card! I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial today and I go petit has inspired you to do something a little different with your patterned paper!
