Hello everyone! I’m here sharing an 8 1/2 by 11 layout with you. Sketches are wonderful because you can either follow along with the exact sketch or you can move elements around as needed. They are great for when you’re in a bind with your creativity! I took the elements from the sketch and changed or moved them around just a little. Instead of using three photos, I used one large photo. I loved the idea of using a few pieces of paper to make a grid like shown in the sketch – so I chose some of my favorite papers from the Sand Castle collection. Instead of having the banner right beneath the grid – I moved them to the side of the grid. I used a sticker of a sandcastle as the large element (which is the number three in the sketch). Another little special detail about this layout is that I added the title digitally – directly onto the photo. Thanks for taking a peek at my project!

I have a little one with a first birthday coming up soon. He’s not mine but I wouldn’t mind if he was. I typically hate making cards. But I knew I needed an extra special card for this little guy, and this sketch worked for a card. It was obvious that I needed to use birthday cake for this project.  I just layered and glued and layered some more.
