• While I watched Caitie play with her new Strawberry Shortcake Play-Doh, I got this idea…

• Why not make a mini album based on these shapes? With six characters and shapes, this mini album can have six pages.

• I waited a year for the right collection to come along for me to complete this project. The Antique Store Collection is perfect! It has the vintage charm of the Strawberry Shortcake that my sisters and I grew-up with. The colors are just perfect and I love that the designs were not too cutsie. After I matched up the pattern papers with the characters, I was ready to start on the album. Please note that I wanted to use the Chamomile Tea 8 x 8 Pattern Paper for Plum Pudding, but I ran out of paper. So, instead I used it to accent my pages.

• Instead of tracing the cookie cutter like shapes, I made a color copy of the playmat and cut out the six shapes. This will work well if you decide to trace and cut out your favorite cookie cutter shapes, too.

• I took the tiny shapes to my local Staples store, enlarged them, and cut them all out.

• I enlarged them enough to fit perfectly on the 8 x 8 sheets of pattern paper. Yay!

• I took the enlarged cut out shape, traced it onto a 12 x 12 sheet of chipboard, and cut it out.

• I added a thin layer of Mod Podge adhesive to the chipboard shape. I attached the pattern paper to the chipboard shape and used a boning folder tool to smooth it all out. I let it dry for a couple of minutes under a stack of books and then cut it all out.

• Repeat steps 3 and 4 with all of the other shapes. I added chipboard to the pattern papers of my front and back album covers. I attached the other sets of pattern paper to each other without using the chipboard. I didn’t want my album to be too thick with all the embellishments I wanted to add to it. You can definitely add chipboard to each page of your album.

Here is my daughter’s completed Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Mini Album:

• For the Monsieur themed journaling cards I used a variety of embellishments from their new collection. For the “eating” journaling card I used a shipping tag, layered a label and stapled the flash card so I could tuck a photo behind it when I was ready.
• For the boyfriend card I covered a white card stock journaling card with patterned paper, added the flash card and hand cut a flag and stapled it onto the top.
• For the 02 card, I just added a journaling tag, outlined it and added a paper ribbon that I cut a V out of the other side and added the 02 for final touches.
• The mini calendar tags are PERFECT and adorable! I added a calendar on-top of the wood grain patterned paper and a strip of the chevron paper. I used my 1/2 hole punch and regular hole punch to punch various papers I had and strategically placed them around the calendar along with the 12 number tag to signify the year.
• Lastly, for the note journaling tag I just layered the journaling spot on-top of patterned paper and added hole punched confetti.

• The april showers themed journaling cards started off with an Easter one for my Easter spread.
• The adorable peeps cut outs PLS has, paired with document paper ribbons and a half circle number tag, was perfect for an Easter journaling tag.
• The other two came about by layering patterned paper and journaling tag or paper ribbon.

• Cut out all the squares on the page. Here I just cut only from the back sheet, those are enough for one 8.5” x 11” layout that I’m going to work with.

• Trace repeated blocks of squares with the exact measurements on the layout, I drew only two-thirds on the page here.

• Cut the squares into triangles, forming 4 triangles per square.

• Stick random pattern traingles on the blocks making a quilt-like pattern here below: (the empty space on the block is where I want to put my photo at)

• Misting is optional, but it blends well with all of the colours together.

• Add strips from Bunny Hop and Love Some pattern paper and Cottontail paper for journaling space.

• Stick your photo, then sit back and admire you work!
